The more you recognize and affirm good media behavior, the less problematic media behavior there will be. The way you talk to your child and ask questions about their media use will impact how much they share with you about what they are doing through media and technology.

Week One Review

Last week we introduced you to the TECH Parenting program. You shared with us some of the values that are most important to you when thinking about media and technology in your home. We would encourage you to keep that in mind as you move throughout this program.

For Home Practice we asked you to pay attention to any substance use related content you saw in the media. Which of the following did you see?

You also shared with us what aspects of media and technology use might be healthy versus unhealthy for kids. This week, we’ll introduce you to ways you can Talk with your child about media and technology to better understand what their experiences are. This will also help you with other aspects of the program, such as educating your child about risks and setting up effective house rules for media and technology.
